M.A.P Trios - New Videos

Uploaded several videos of the new M.A.P Trios project - new and personal (i.e idiosyncratic) interpretations of pop songs. Most of the songs are currently drawn from the 1980's onwards, my criteria for picking these songs was largely impulsive, based on melodies that seem to bob up in my head from time to time, I'm collecting them in a playlist as I hear them.
This gig was recorded at Dempseys Jazz Club in Cardiff May 8th 2012

The Scott Hamilton Quartet - at Cafe Jazz April 5th

Got this gig coming up, should be fun. I've never played with Scott before (esp as he lives in Italy!), but he looks like a pretty laid back sort of guy and he's got that classic Tenor tone which I love, so I'm looking forward to it.

Here's the details below……..

THE SCOTT HAMILTON QUARTET
The concert represents a partnership between Jazz4Jed, Cardiff Jazz and Café Jazz Big name swing sax player and Brecon favourite Scott Hamilton will fly in from Italy to make a rare Welsh appearance at Café Jazz to launch the 2012 bursary of £1,000 in memory of Jed Williams, the artistic director of Brecon Jazz from its origins in 1984 to his untimely death in 2003. The Jazz4Jed charity administers the bursary. The gig will be a fundraiser for the 2012 bursary to help jazz talent in Wales - a cause that was always close to Jed’s heart.

He'll be backed by three leading figures of the Welsh jazz scene - Paula Gardiner on bass, Paul Jones on piano and Mark O'Connor on drums.
Promoter and Jazz4Jed founder Geoff Amos said: "Scott Hamilton is a big name for this intimate setting, and he jumped at the chance to honour Jed Williams who he worked with many times in the heyday of Brecon Jazz.
ADMISSION: £10.00/ £8.00

Dots.filmband - Chrysalis to Moth

From the Dots.filmband Tour in Autumn 2011, this video shows us performing to 'Chrysalis to Moth' - a short film by Virginia Head, and one of two films by her that we featured in the tour. The score for this film was unique in relation to the other film's scored for the project, as it was created by consolidating ideas created through improvised passes to the film. Each performer is mirroring different durations and events present on screen, particularly in the sections where the sketches are drawn.

Performed at Chapter Arts Centre as part of the SWN Festival 2011.
Musicians are:-
Tim Tate - Guitar/ Loops
Tina Hitchens - Keyboards/Flute
Paul Jones - Keyboards/Drones
